SARS has confirmed the key dates for the 2026 Tax Season, and GZ & Co. encourages taxpayers to prepare early. As in recent years, auto-assessments lead the way before the general filing window opens.
Confirmed Dates for 2026
- Auto-assessments: 1 to 12 July 2026
- Individual (non-provisional) taxpayers: 13 July to 23 October 2026
- Provisional taxpayers and trusts: 13 July 2026 to 22 January 2027
What to Expect
SARS will again auto-assess a large number of taxpayers using third-party data. If your assessment is accurate, no action is required; if not, you must file a corrected return before your deadline.
How to Prepare Now
- Confirm your personal, contact and banking details on eFiling.
- Collect your IRP5s, medical, retirement and investment certificates.
- Ensure any outstanding prior-year returns are submitted to avoid delays.
Early preparation means a faster, penalty-free filing season.
If you need assistance understanding how these developments affect you or your business, GZ & Co. is here to assist.
